In 1993, then North Carolina governor Jim Hunt proposed a state-wide, early childhood initiative called Smart Start which would use state funds to provide services for early childhood development. The legislation was ratified and "Partnerships for Children" were established to serve all 100 North Carolina Counties by managing and distributing Smart Start funds to local early childhood initiatives.
The Partnership for Children of Lenoir and Greene Counties, established in 1994, is one of those partnerships and works to ensure that all children in Lenoir and Greene Counties enter kindergarten healthy and ready to succeed. The Partnership accomplishes this mission by providing and supporting a variety of programs and services that target children, age birth through five, and their families.
The Partnership is supported by Smart Start dollars, More at Four dollars, grants, and private donations.

If coming from the west of Kinston (Raleigh, Goldsboro, etc.) Take Hwy 70 E into Kinston. At the second stop light, turn LEFT (NORTH) onto Hwy 258. Go over the railroad tracks. The Partnership office is located about 2/10ths of a mile and is the last driveway on the RIGHT before a wooded area.
If coming from the east or south of Kinston (New Bern, Jacksonville, etc.) Go through Kinston on Hwy 70 W Bypass and over the river. (Turn LEFT or WEST onto Hwy 70 if coming from either Hwy 58 or Hwy 258.) After crossing the river, turn RIGHT (NORTH) at the second stop light onto Hwy 258. (Sale Auto Mall is on the right corner.) Go over the railroad tracks. The Partnership office is located about 2/10ths of a mile and is the last driveway on the RIGHT before a wooded area.
If coming from the Northwest (Wilson, Rocky Mount, Snow Hill, etc.) Come into Kinston on Hwy 258. Go through 3 traffic lights. About 4/10ths mile on the LEFT is the Partnership office. It is the first driveway on the LEFT after a wooded area.
If coming from the Northeast (Greenville) Take Hwy 11 into Kinston. Turn RIGHT (WEST) at the THIRD traffic light onto Vernon Avenue. Go straight (WEST) for about 4 miles. Turn RIGHT (NORTH) onto Hwy 258. (Sale Auto Mall is on the right corner.) Go over the railroad tracks. The Partnership office is located about 2/10ths of a mile and is the last driveway on the RIGHT before a wooded area.

From Greenville: Coming from Greenville Boulevard, take a left onto US-13/US-264 ALT. Turn left to continue on US-13. Turn left onto US-13/US-258. Turn left onto SE Second Street/US-258. Turn left onto Kingold Boulevard.We are in the same building as NAPA, on the end.

From Rocky Mount: Get on US 301 South. Turn onto Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway Southeast/Nash Street Southeast/US-264 Alt.
